Privacy Policy
Short version: your calculations never leave your browser. We run advertising, which does involve third-party data collection, and this page says exactly what.
Reviewed
This policy explains how FinCalculate (fincalculate.info) handles information. It covers the site as it exists today. Material changes will be made here first, and the review date above will change with them.
Your calculations stay on your device
Every calculator here runs entirely in your browser. The balances, rates, tax figures and other numbers you enter are never sent to a server, because there is no server to send them to, this site is a set of static files. We cannot see what you calculate, and there is no account, no login and no profile.
One thing worth knowing about the URL
The numbers you enter are reflected in the page address so that a result can be bookmarked or shared. That is a deliberate feature, but it has a consequence worth stating plainly: if you share that link, you are also sharing the figures in it. If you paste it into a forum, a message or a support ticket, whoever reads it can see your balance, rate and tax bracket.
The address of each page you visit is also visible to our hosting provider and, because it is sent as the referring page, to our advertising partner. If you would rather that not include your figures, clear the query string from the address bar before navigating on.
Advertising
This site carries advertising served by Google, through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads and to measure them. Depending on your consent choice and your location, that can include:
- Your IP address, approximate location, browser and device type.
- The pages you view on this site and when you view them.
- Identifiers stored in your browser that let Google recognise a return visit, and, where you have consented, build an interest profile used to personalise the ads you see.
We do not receive any of that data at an individual level. We see aggregate reporting only: how many times ads were shown and what they earned. We do not upload, sell or share any information about you with anyone, because we do not hold any.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising by Google at Google Ads Settings, and opt out of personalisation by many other vendors at aboutads.info. Google's own description of how it uses data from sites that use its services is at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Consent, if you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be asked to make a choice about advertising cookies before personalised ads are served. That dialog is provided by Google's consent management platform, which is certified under the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework. If you decline, you will still see advertising, but it will be non-personalised, chosen from the page you are on rather than from anything about you. You can change that choice at any time using the privacy link the dialog leaves on the page.
Measurement
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and does not fingerprint or track individuals across sites. It tells us which calculators people use and nothing about who used them.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes the technical information required to deliver a page, your IP address, the URL requested, your browser user-agent and the time of the request, and may retain it in security and server logs. That processing is Cloudflare's and is governed by its own privacy terms.
Fonts and other external requests
The typefaces used here are self-hosted and served from this domain, so no request is made to a font provider while you read. Apart from advertising and the analytics beacon described above, the site makes no third-party requests.
Links to other sites
Methodology sections link to primary sources, mostly IRS, CFPB and FDIC publications. Ads link wherever the advertiser sends them. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and this policy does not cover them.
If you email us
Messages sent to hello@fincalculate.info are kept only as long as needed to deal with what you wrote about. We do not add correspondents to any mailing list, and there is no mailing list to add anyone to.
Children
This site is intended for adults making decisions about their own finances. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Your rights
We hold no personal data about visitors, so there is nothing for us to export, correct or delete on request. For data held by Google in connection with advertising, use the Google links above, which are the only effective route, we have no ability to act on your behalf there. If you have emailed us and would like that correspondence removed, ask and it will be.
Changes and contact
